The Jallianwala Bagh massacre is but one among many directed against the “lesser” subjects of European empires. In recent decades, as these histories become more studied, and reveal the horrors “civilized” Europe let loose on the world, academics, international lawyers and the former colonized peoples have a demand: reparations. The script, illustrations, animation and score have all been produced by Puffball. A hand-drawn short film on the right to clean air. The film depicts a montage in the life of a carpenter living in the city of Lahore which begins with scenes from his verdant village. As the years wear on, his routine remains the same, but everything around him, much like the environment, begins to wither.
